Can Lab Diamonds be Certified by the GIA?

Can Lab Diamonds be Certified by the GIA?

Yes, both the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI) have been grading lab diamonds for nearly two decades, recognising that both lab and mined diamonds are chemically, physically and visually identical.

The GIA & IGI are both renowned authorities in diamond grading and recognised the increasing demand for lab diamonds and adapted their certification process accordingly.

Lab diamonds undergo the same rigorous evaluation as mined diamonds, with the cut, color, clarity, and carat weight assessed on each diamond. By obtaining certification, lab diamonds gain credibility and assurance, providing clients with valuable information about the stone's quality.

In conclusion, lab diamonds can indeed be certified. The GIA and the IGI have been grading lab diamonds since 2007 and 2005 respectively, ensuring that thesegems meet the same high standards as mined diamonds. With their certifications, clients can be confident in the quality and authenticity of lab diamonds, knowing they are chemically, physically, and visually identical to natural diamonds.
